Step into another world - The Offshore 87

Offshore West shipyard’s objective is genuine straightforwardness. Their successful endeavors date back from 1948. Ever since then, they have been coming forward with supreme products and services that exceed the public’s expectations. Mr. Richard O. Hunt, the pioneer of fiberglass boat manufacturing and the founder of the Offshore West Company, has flared up the market with new generations of boats. Their personnel are zealous workers that provide innovation and exceptional service while earning the loyalty of their clients with their polished skills, exemplary attitude, and industry knowledge. The Offshore yachts are manufactured with noteworthy attention to details. Their maxim is: "The softest ride on the water" which is a result of their technologically superior design. One of those admirable vessels is certainly the Offshore 87. She is a proficient cruising platform which encompasses relaxation, cooking, exercising, enjoying and much, much more. She simply has it all. Different amenities will flabbergast the onlookers before the ink is dry. We shall inspect the Offshore 87 review and see for ourselves.

The overall length of the Offshore 87 is, understandably, 87 feet and the beam is 21 feet and 6 inches. The Offshore 87 shape is designed by a naval architect, William B- Luther, whose mentor was Bill Crealock. The shape’s essence is a nice and curious deep forefoot which is pretty modest for the overall size of the boat and a warped running bottom. This shape boosts the stability, chiefly at anchor. The keel starts at the foot of the stern and extends for three-quarter length and then suddenly disappears. This way, the wet surface is reduced and effectiveness is enhanced simultaneously. Corecell, foam core material, is integrated within the sides of the hull to create an impeccable gel-coat finish. The foam is implemented throughout the decks and superstructure elements too. All these details upgrade the performance results of the boat herself.

The Offshore 87 is portrayed as a boat with a planing hull manufactured to perform at speed-length ratios of between 2.0 and 3.0. The speed can vary a little in relation to the engines she is supplied with. For instance, if this beauty is geared up with twin Caterpillar C18 diesel engines, with 2030 horsepower in total, the cruising speed is about 15 knots and the fuel burn at that time is around 90 gallons per hour. Moreover, decrease in speed closely correlates to the fuel burn which is 36 gallons per hour at 12 knots. Therefore, one can range 1140 nautical miles. But, that’s not all. If the skipper slows down the speed to 10 knots, the nautical miles raise to 1500. The maneuvering becomes smooth and steady. During the hard turns, she controls the horizon line level and turns agreeably. On the grounds that the Offshore 87 has a nice V-entry, the bad weather and rough seas are a piece of cake. The Joystick Maneuvering System (JMS) is also incorporated and makes voyaging so much easier. The system connects the standard 50 horsepower hydraulic bow and stern thrusters with the main engines which results in perfect movement of the boat. That is why no one speaks about the Offshore 87 price; they all speak about the qualities.

Starting from the upper bridge, the Offshore 87 brags with the finest fully enclosed flybridge. The Wheelhouse helm is enormously immense, with almost full-width helm dash and has three captain’s chairs. One chair is in the center and the other two are to port and starboard. The dash comprises three Nauticomp multifunction screens and miscellaneous displays. A triple–pane windshield is grand with its wooden components. To starboard is a U-shaped settee that serves as a dining area. The enclosed part of the flybridge also has interesting characteristics and features such as an exercises bike in the aft or a mounted TV above the entry stairs. If one goes outside the enclosed part, he would have an upper lounge at his disposal. There is a small barbecue entertainment part for nice weather.

The main deck of the Offshore 87 is one level from the bow to stern and is separated with high bulwarks to reach the uppermost safety at sea. Starting from the lounge at the fore part of the boat, just to the bow, one can notice the ingenuity of the Offshore personnel. The lounge is quite spacious with a U-shaped settee, a table, and a fully-furnished galley. Moving to amidship, the dining area accommodates a glass dining table that can seat 6 people and a wetbar. The marvelous L-shaped wet bar is a serving station and has a function of splitting the saloon and the dining area. The wetbar contains a stone top which perfectly pairs with the saloon settee and recliner. Heading completely aft, a gorgeous California deck occupies this part of the Offshore 87. The deck is vividly spacious and has a settee and two wooden tables.

The comfort below deck is paramount. The standard accommodation encompasses three cabins underneath and the same number of heads. The largest is the master stateroom which has been expanded further. The second one is the VIP cabin, and the third is the guest cabin. Nevertheless, Offshore has provided a four-cabin layout for people who want more cabins.  The VIP cabin is situated in the front part of the boat. The king size bed is in the center of the room and is slightly elevated. The whole room is embellished with teak. A huge TV screen is mounted on the wall and a spacious closet is available. The VIP head is directly connected with this room. Teak pervades in the head too. A shower, a sink and some storage space occupy the space. The guest cabin has two beds and a separate guest head which contains pretty much the same assets as the VIP head. The Master Head is simply flabbergasting with its space, head, and even a dressing room. The other crew cabin has bunk beds. TVs are placed in all the cabins below deck.
